As we approach Veterans Day, Rock Hill Schools has partnered with Rolling Thunder and Hussey Seating to permanently install a Chair of Honor at District Three Stadium and District Three Stadium South.
During home football games on Friday, November 1 ceremonies will be held at each stadium to unveil the single black chair serving as a permanent reminder to all who visit our stadiums that even though our soldiers are not present, there is still a space for them. At each stadium, the chair will remain empty to symbolize that missing soldiers will always have a seat waiting when they return home. In addition to the seat, a memorial plaque will commemorate prisoners of war and those still missing in action.
In-district rivals Rock Hill and Northwestern square off at 7:30 p.m. at District Three Stadium where the ceremony will take place during pre-game festivities. South Pointe hosts York at 7:30 p.m., and the ceremony will take place at halftime.
Our community is invited to football games at District Three Stadium and District Three Stadium South to take part in this dedication event. Active duty military and veterans with proper identification can get a free ticket by visiting the Rock Hill Schools Central Office from Tuesday, October 29 through Thursday, October 31 between 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m, or on Friday, November 1 between 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Rock Hill Schools’ Central Office is located at 386 E. Black Street.
