Two long-serving administrators in Rock Hill Schools have announced retirements and a third is moving into a new role.

  • Dr. Sandy Andrews, who has served as director of adult education since 2001, is retiring at the end of the school year. A familiar face to many in Rock Hill who have completed requirements to earn a GED or visit the district’s Pearson testing center, Andrews’ team at Adult Education have amassed numerous awards in her time at the helm. Prior to relocating to Rock Hill, Dr. Andrews worked in a variety of teaching and administrative roles in the Charleston, S.C. area. We are grateful for her leadership and support of Rock Hill Schools and its adult learners.
  • Don Gillman will move from his post at the Applied Technology Center to Adult Education where he will replace Andrews. He has been in Rock Hill Schools for 19 years and has been the director of Applied Technology Center since 2001. Before moving to ATC, he served three years as an assistant principal at Rock Hill High School. He will be able to use his knowledge and expertise of the needs of our community and workforce development to support students in the Adult Education program so they may successfully complete their studies and begin the next phase of their academic or work life.
  • Dr. Sarah Lynn Hayes, who will be retiring in November 2017, has served as the director of Central Child Development Center where she has worked with hundreds of students and families each year in the district’s 4K Early Childhood Program. She will complete the school year at CCDC and then support the district’s instructional department until her retirement. Hayes has been in Rock Hill Schools since 1993 and has served the community in a variety of positions before moving to CCDC. In the district, she has served as the principal of Richmond Drive Elementary School, director of elementary education, and director of curriculum support programs. We appreciate her leadership and support of Rock Hill Schools programs over the past 24 years and wish her well in retirement this fall.

Rock Hill Schools will be posting the positions for Applied Technology Center and Central Child Development Center.
