ROCK HILL, SC –As part of its monthly business meeting on September 26, the Board of Trustees of Rock Hill School District Three met in executive session to discuss the Superintendent Kelly Pew’s performance evaluation. This process is required by board policy and the district’s employment contract with the superintendent.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Chairman Jim Vining issued the following statement:
This evening, the Board of Trustees of Rock Hill School District met in executive session to discuss the Superintendent’s Performance evaluation for the 2015-16 school year. This process is required by board policy and the district’s employment contract with the superintendent.
We are pleased with Dr. Pew’s performance this year. We believe the organizational changes, plans for academic improvement and choice school initiatives are in the right direction and have energized the community. We admire the administration for the workload they have undertaken implementing our technology and capital spending plans and have confidence these will be completed on time and within budget.
The superintendent is visible in our schools and community. We appreciate the town hall meetings she has completed. Communications have improved with Internet streaming of business meetings and work sessions as well as the introduction of a mobile app for our district. We appreciate the superintendent leading us with equity discussions and look forward to completing this in the coming year. We thank the administration for delivering a balanced budget without a tax increase.
We look forward to improved academic performance. There is still much work to be done but we are confident we will continue making strides in the year to come.
Because of the Superintendent’s leadership and, consistent with the terms of her contract, we will extend her contract by one year until June 30, 2020. Additionally, per the terms of her contract, after receiving this evaluation, the District will make a contribution to an annuity in an amount equal to 8% of the Superintendents contractual annual salary.
